Men in Black

A lot has been written over the past week about the Blackshirts and some of the comments coming from members of our beleaguered defense, most notably Corey McKeon. Personally, I was torn by his statements, sometimes agreeing othertimes not, but I'll give the guy credit for honesty and he's definitely right about one thing: Nebraska football, thus far, hasn't been much fun.

I haven't had a whole lot of fun either, constantly worrying, never quite knowing what to expect, wondering if Nebraska is making strides or falling further behind on the national front. That's not fun for me or anyone else I suspect but tomorrow's a new day. Another game.

Looking at that defense, the Omaha World-Herald had one of the best articles I think I've read this season. Of all the varying opinions out there I tend to put the most stock in those of former players and if Kevin Ramaekers sees reason talent then I guess I'll take his word for it. Now let's see it on the field.

I have no idea what will happen tomorrow. Iowa State has struggled mightily but they've got talent in the right spots. There's supposed to be a blackout, a challenge that's been thrown down before but never met. (You really want to get this done, four or five business need to get together and distribute shirts at the gate. If any of us were making any money doing this, I'd love to see the Husker blogging community be the ones to do it.)

But I'd be lying if I were to say it wouldn't be nice to see it happen. What better way to put everything behind us then a move of such blinding solidarity? All's not right in Huskerland to date but that doesn't mean it can't start tomorrow against the Cyclones.

As Cash sang: "I'd love to wear a rainbow everyday/And tell the world that everything's okay/But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back/'Til things are brighter, I'm the Man in Black."

Amen.

I'm excited for tomorrow. Going into last week, I wasn't excited, but now I'm ready for this team to get back on the field.

Enjoy the game.

Haven't taken the time to comment much lately...but great stuff this week, as always. Just wanted to be the first to congratulate you on those Cubbies. As a half-hearted Cards fan that's still no small feat! But enjoy watching your team in the post season. Even for someone who doesn't actually care much about baseball, I can still appreciate that!

dt,

Thanks. With all the football it hasn't quite set in yet that the freakin' Cubs are in the playoffs!

As for the unis, much disappointment on my end from NMSU. Where were the pink jerseys?!
