I haven't seen a team look so rudderless since...oh...the last job our head coach had. He was fired after that.
Call that negativity if you will, I'll call it dissent and if you're not asking yourself questions regarding the direction of this football program then you might be guilty of something much more serious: delusion.
Perhaps Jon of Corn Nation said it best in a response to one of my comments during the game: "...if something doesn't happen, everyone will lose interest. They'll move from anger to apathy, the worst possible place for a program."
Like a lot of others, I'm FAR from apathetic at this point. Pissed off comes close to describing it and I don't think anyone should feel the need to apologize for that.
Will this finally bring forth some answers from the powers that be or will it be the same old song and dance? Nebraska fans deserve more than that and the players suiting up each Saturday deserve more than that.
POST GAME PRESS CONFERENCE UPDATE: To summarize, Bill Callahan is disappointed and feels bad for the players.
So do I.
I don't know why this hadn't dawned on me earlier, but the reason why Callahan can't offer any meaningful answers is because he doesn't have them. "Go back to work." "Keep coaching 'em." All the same platitudes.
At least Sam Keller was his usual honest self.
Further Rabble Rousing: I'd like to personally thank Stewart Mandel for singling out Steve Pederson in his Saturday Observations blog today. Even though I know this isn't the case, it almost felt like he was personally offended at the performance of late. (HT: Fire Bill Callahan)
