Normally I'd be spending much of this week detailing the Derby. This year I'm taking a mini-vacation deep in the heart of Texas.
There will be barbecue.
There will be David Allan Coe.
There will be horse racing.
If you're in the neighborhood of Retama Park in San Antonio, feel free to join us on Saturday and contribute your coin (and possibly your picks) for the Derby superfecta.
There's still a chance that I'll get some Derby picks up later this week but that might be it until Sunday.

Saw the draw for Derby and I have to say I love Monba, Col. John, and Pyro - in that order. I could not believe Big Brown drew the 20 spot and Gayego the 19 - not going to happen. Let me know what you think as being the chronic gambler I am, I'll take all advice I can. However, I'll more insight approx. 30 seconds before I place my bets.
With the Derby I think the 30 second approach is really the way to go. I like to watch the odds and get some late win bets in.
The draw certainly made things a lot more interesting. Pyro is now live again and Big Brown...well, what do you do?
I'm not quite ready to totally toss him yet, but it's only Wednesday.
I'll tell you what you do about 3:1 favorite Big Brown - don't bet it. Only one horse ever has won from the 20 spot and that was in 1929. Complete suckers bet. I think there are 8 horses that can win so time to let the dice roll...
