That's the stuff of dreams right there.
HPSWBT got back on track a bit with a 7-3 record but, to be frank, this week's lines don't offer a whole lot to look at.
USF @ Rutgers (+2)
In a season that makes no sense, I've gotta go with the computers and they love the Bulls. Last time I saw USF play I came away mighty impressed with their defense. I suspect that love will be renewed tonight.
Arkansas @ Ole Miss (+5)
One of these days, it's gonna happen for you Ole Miss and I want you to remember who has been there for you week in and week out. I'm tired of moral victories and straight covers at home--ok, not really--and you should be too.
Florida @ Kentucky (+6.5)
I'll ride this Wildcat train for another week. I fully understand that the Gators are probably the class here but a touchdown seems like a lot to cover.
Miami @ Florida St. (-5.5)
Remember when the college football universe used to stop for this game? One team, Miami, can't throw it. The other can't run it. I'll take the former every time.
Kansas @ Colorado (+3.5)
Win this one KU and I'll fully be on board. Folsom Prison is a vile, awful place and I suspect you haven't been favored on the road in the Big 12 in any game not involving Baylor. Enjoy it, but don't forget to show up.
Ohio State @ Michigan St. (+17)
Number one in the country is not the place you want to be this year. Seventeen points is a lot against almost anyone on the road, but this is a State squad that showed some spunk early on. Rece Davis' insistence on referring to Michigan State as Sparty is maddening and to voice my displeasure with the practice, I'm predicting an outright win for the Spartans.
Oregon @ Washington (+11)
The white helmets are here! Maybe. It hasn't been confirmed whether or not these "ghost-flamed" beauties will make their debut, but I'll be tuning in to see. I love Oregon, but I do not love laying 11 on the road, especially in a tough stadium.
Miss. St. @ West Virginia (-24.5)
Umm, hasn't this Bulldog squad looked game in every SEC game they've played thus far minus their season opener at LSU? I realize it's in West F'n Virginia but I'm rolling with Croom.
Texas Technical @ Missouri (-3.5)
As good as Crabtree has been, that drop against Okie State could end up haunting the Red Raiders if their current run in the Big 12 keeps up. Chase Daniel, the eyes of Blain Gabbert are upon you. Please show him that you have no intention of, or reason to, leave Mizzou.
Texas Ag. & Mech. @ Nebraska (-2)
I have no idea how this past week will affect the Cornhuskers. Could fire them up, could beat them down. I don't know, but Tom's home and I'll believe again.
Last Week: 7-3
Year to Date: 39-30-1

Hey Brandon, I was wondering what you think is the right time frame for Tom at NU. I think he is providing a much needed peace amidst the turmoil, but I also think things need to be done fairly quickly as far as finding a permanent AD. I know he needs to be there for a while but I would think by Kickoff '08 they should at least have the long-term guy in place. I could even see a situation where Tom and the new guy co-exist for a while. I'd like to hear you thoughts. -Nebraskan
Why no picks on CSC-UNK? I assume you will be tuning in?
Nebraskan,
I agree with you, sooner is probably better, and in my mind I'd like to see the university make a decision on a new AD around the end of this academic year. Before next football season definitely.
It seems vitally important to me that, should Nebraska make a coaching change, the new AD is involved. I can't help but compile a wishlist of prospective coaches and I'm not convinced it has to be a "Nebraska guy", but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
The longer Osborne stays the more difficult it becomes to replace him, but that was the arrangement from the start. If Tom's around for a while, it could become pretty easy to forget that.
I won't be able to tune in until the 2nd half of that CSC-UNK game but here's what I've heard from my central Nebraska correspondent:
1) It's going to be rainy and sloppy, so who can run the ball?
2) Woodhead can, but there's rumor he's fighting a deep thigh bruise.
I'll take Kearney on the basis of home field advantage. 31-30.
Thanks for the response. I think CSC will win at Kearney tonight. I also hear that more is being made of the thigh bruise than should be. Plus, the kid is a gamer. We'll see.
I guess your info was better than mine. Woodhead looks really hampered.
Gotta feel bad for the kid. He's gotten a lot of press but few have actually seen him play.
Eagles look no worse for the wear, however.
